Dry Ice Pellets 3mm per KG

Supagas Product 4592
Code: 20041B

What is Dry Ice?

Dry ice is produced by allowing liquid carbon dioxide (CO2) to expand to a lower pressure, thereby forming a mixture of “snow” and CO2 gas. The mixture is then compressed into dry ice in the form of pellets, blocks or slices. We offer dry ice pellets in 3mm, 10mm and 16mm sizes, depending on the intended application. Dry ice pellets are small, consistently sized chunks of dry ice, which makes them highly versatile. Dry ice pellets are ideal for transportation and are commonly used for storage and delivery purposes.

Safety Data
Sheet

Dry Ice Technical Sheet

Proper handling is imperative, as improper storage or exposure to dry ice can cause injury or asphyxiation, particularly when not handled correctly or when released in confined spaces. Store dry ice in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area. Do not store in a glass or sealed container as this can cause explosions.

Anyone handling or working with dry ice should wear proper personal protective equipment (PPE) and only use it in well-ventilated areas where exposure levels can be monitored to avoid excessive inhalation.

What is dry ice made of?

Dry ice is solid carbon dioxide, created by compressing liquified carbon dioxide. Once turned into a solid, it can be made into pellets, blocks or slices.

Is dry ice dangerous?

It’s important to transport, handle and store dry ice with care. It can cause cold burns if handled without PPE. Dry ice can also be a hazard in areas that are not well ventilated..

How long is dry ice supposed to last?

Dry ice stored in a cooler typically lasts up to 24 hours, but it depends on the amount of dry ice you have and the conditions that it is subjected to. The speed at which it melts depends on  the quantity you have, as well the external temperature and storage conditions in which the dry ice is being stored and transported within.

How do you keep dry ice frozen?

You can’t keep dry ice frozen at home: however, you can delay it from melting. Obtain your dry ice as close as possible to the time that you will be using it. Store it in an insulated container with an airtight lid.

What is the average temperature of dry ice?

Dry ice has a very low surface temperature of -78 degrees Celsius.

Where can I buy dry ice pellets in Australia?
